Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using TutorMatch (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use TutorMatch. These terms apply to all users: learners, tutors, and visitors.

2. Description of Service

TutorMatch is a marketplace that connects learners with independent tutors for one-on-one online lessons in subjects such as coding, languages, faith, and academics. We provide the platform, introduction tools, and (as they roll out) booking and payment processing. Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of TutorMatch. TutorMatch does not itself provide instruction.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@safescreensinitiative.org if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Introductions and Trials

TutorMatch is in alpha. Learners request introductions to tutors through the platform. During alpha, learners and tutors agree on rate, cadence, and lesson platform directly after introduction.

5. Payments and Fees

During TutorMatch's alpha stage, no platform fee is taken. Learners and tutors settle payment directly. As on-platform bookings and payments roll out, TutorMatch will take 5-10% of each lesson, disclosed clearly at the time of booking (aligned with our sister site TuneMatch's fair-split model).

6. Cancellations and Refunds

During alpha, cancellations and refunds are handled directly between the learner and tutor. Both parties are expected to give reasonable notice. Repeated no-shows may result in removal from the platform.

7. Tutor Eligibility

Tutors must be approved by TutorMatch before their profile is listed. Approval requires providing accurate information about qualifications and experience. TutorMatch reserves the right to remove any tutor from the platform at its discretion. Tutors are responsible for their own taxes and compliance with applicable laws.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Circumvent TutorMatch to arrange lessons directly and avoid platform fees (once on-platform payments launch)
• Provide false information on your profile
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform

Violations may result in immediate account termination.

9. Intellectual Property

TutorMatch and its logos, design, and content are the property of TutorMatch. You retain ownership of content you submit (bio, profile photo, reviews) but grant TutorMatch a license to display it on the platform.

10. Limitation of Liability

TutorMatch provides the platform “as is” without warranties. We are not liable for the quality of lessons provided by tutors, disputes between learners and tutors, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Our liability is limited to the fees you paid to TutorMatch in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting info@safescreensinitiative.org. TutorMatch may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of TutorMatch after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
